I'll add #6: Dress the part. If we each have a personal brand, then the clothing we wear is our "packaging." The old axiom of dressing for the job you want, not the job you have, is especially true today. If you're serious about attaining a leadership position, convey confidence and competence by dressing in a professional manner at all times. I think it is often hard for women to be put into the leadership pipeline in male dominated fields unless they really insert themselves into situations with the company's decision makers or make their ambitions known and sometimes even doing those things is not enough. I cannot agree more with the 5 things women can do to help advance their careers especially staying positive. Excellent post.
